A six-watch box that stays open without being open

On a small format, the glass lid mainly changes your relationship with the object. A six-watch box often sits on a desk or a console, within sight. With glass, the collection stays visible while nothing gathers dust.

This is the version to choose if the box is part of the room as much as it is storage. If it lives in a drawer instead, glass serves no purpose and the solid-lid Makassar costs less.

Where not to put it

Near a window. Glass lets light through, and prolonged exposure fades coloured dials and light leather straps. In the shade, no drawback at all.

Veneer and dividers

Dark brown streaks over a lighter ground, under multi-layer gloss varnish. Each divider is varnished on top and lined only on its side faces — a grid of wood when it opens, rather than a textile border.
