The 24mm raw leather watch strap Brutus black with red stitching is made from raw cowhide on both faces, with minimal contrast stitching at the ends. Side edges patinated by hand. Thickness of 4 mm at the watch end, tapering to 2.5 mm at the buckle.
The section of the Brutus is neither lacquered nor machine-dyed: it is patinated by hand, along both edges, until it reaches the dark shade that frames the strap. At 24 mm wide, that work represents a considerable length of edge — and it shows up close.
The red stitching is the strap's only departure from black. On a raw black leather of this width it sets the tone without turning the piece into a sports accessory. That is what separates this Brutus from the beige-stitched version, which is quieter.
The same raw leather on the surface and in the lining, with no smoothing finish. It hardens less than a treated leather and takes a patina with wear. The taper gives suppleness at the wrist despite the width — without it, a 24 mm strap at a constant 4 mm would be rigid.
Panerai Luminor 44, Bell Ross BR01 and BR03, Citizen Aqualand, Invicta Pro Diver, large-diameter Diesel models. It is shown on a Rolex 5513, by way of illustration.
