Six dies, six case back diameters

Each die matches one precise diameter. It is that exact correspondence which allows the torque to be applied around the whole circumference of the flutes, with no hard point.

A waterproof watch back unscrews, it is not forced

The flutes of a waterproof back are fine and the gasket resists. A die of the right diameter transmits the effort without touching the engraving; an approximate die slips and leaves a permanent trace on the steel.
