A case of 42mm and up needs holding, not decorating. Navy does exactly that: it gives depth without adding noise. On a blue-bezel Tudor Black Bay 41, the echo is direct.

This NATO watch strap is cut from a single piece of woven nylon, to the British G10 specification. It passes under the case, bears on both spring bars, then loops back to the buckle. Marine-grade anti-corrosion stainless steel buckle and keepers. Machine wash at 30° and air dry.

One single piece, and that is the whole principle

A conventional strap attaches in two parts either side of the case. Not the NATO: the band is continuous and the watch simply rests on it. It cannot fall, even with the spring bars open. That detail is what earned the NATO strap its military career.
