ELMA Antimag watch demagnetizer

The Elma Antimag, from the German brand ELMA, is the reference electronic demagnetizer for watches and precision tooling. A complete mechanical watch — hand-wound or automatic —, a dismantled movement, a case or a tool is demagnetised in a few thousandths of a second.

Demagnetising a watch: one button

Place the watch, part or tool at the centre of the instrument. Press the start button: the red LED comes on and the alternating field does its work. It takes one gesture, and the watch case stays closed.

Why a watch becomes magnetised

By simple proximity. HiFi speakers, induction hobs, microwave ovens, magnetic closures: the sources are everywhere in a home. A magnetised hairspring makes the watch steadily less accurate, and the gain settles in day after day.

A watch running fast: recognising the symptom

A clear, steady gain appearing overnight on a watch that had been stable points almost always to magnetism. A watch losing time, or varying without pattern, is something else: that calls for a watchmaker before any instrument.
