A rubber lining held by thread
The black rubber lining cannot rot, and it is stitched all round as well as bonded: it takes the moisture, not the leather. A merely waxed leather eventually swells and then stiffens; this one does not move. On a 47 mm case worn outdoors, that difference shows within the first season.
