Taupe carries the strongest patina in the range

The taupe of this version is not a flat colour: the matt calf surface carries variation from the start, and it deepens with wear. It is the one Explorer whose tone visibly differs from piece to piece. On a 45 or 47 mm case, that irregularity animates a large area of leather.

Matt calf, lining that cannot rot

The surface is a matt calf, with no glossy finish. Beneath it, the black rubber lining cannot rot: it takes the moisture the leather would not have survived. A perimeter stitch binds it to the leather; glue alone would have given way. It is that construction that allows a leather to be worn on a dive watch without particular care.
