The 22mm waterproof watch strap Explorer brown is built in layered leather, calf surface, with a black rubber lining that is stitched and cannot rot. Marine stainless buckle included and removable, compatible with a deployant clasp as an option.
The calf is tanned in Italy. On brown, the leather will take on a light patina over time. After a season the strap says something a new one cannot — and something a coated leather never will.
It is the most useful pairing in the family: a warm leather on a steel case, but with the resistance of rubber. The watch keeps its dressed look and becomes wearable outdoors. It is shown on an Omega Speedmaster, by way of illustration.
The black rubber lining is stitched to the structure and cannot rot. It is what absorbs water and perspiration. The surface leather stays dry, does not swell and does not harden.
The whole range of 22mm leather watch straps is here. In a lighter version, the beige Explorer 22mm; in a darker one, the black Explorer 22mm. On the origins of straps designed for water, our history of the NATO strap goes back to the source.
