The 20mm taupe waterproof strap carries the strongest patina

The taupe of this version is not a flat colour: the raw matt calf surface carries variation from the start, and it deepens with wear. It is the one Explorer whose tone visibly differs from piece to piece. On a tool watch, that irregularity is an asset.

Raw matt calf, lining that cannot rot

The surface is a raw matt calf in a vintage register, with no glossy finish. Beneath it, the black natural rubber lining cannot rot: it takes the moisture the leather would not have survived. A perimeter stitch holds it, not glue alone. Layered build, 3.5 to 4 mm at the lugs, standard length 190 mm.
