Red stitching: a detail that decides everything
Black leather with no visible stitching is a neutral object. Add red stitching and it becomes a choice. The thread is laid by hand, regular to a tenth — that is where the difference between a workshop and a production line shows.
Two leathers, and under 2mm
This is where the difficulty lies. A NATO strap has to pass under the case: beyond a certain thickness, it no longer does. Yet this strap layers two leathers — the top leather and a hypoallergenic lining — and stays under 2mm. It fits every watch.
Vegetable tanning and hypoallergenic lining
Two expensive choices you do not see at first glance. Vegetable tanning gives leather that patinas — it darkens, it softens, it becomes yours. The hypoallergenic lining solves the problem of leather against skin, in summer, when the wrist sweats.
A La Boîte à Montres exclusive
This strap exists nowhere but here. It is handmade in Arezzo, Tuscany, by a workshop we work with directly. No reseller offers it, no marketplace copies it — to copy it, you would first have to know how to make it.
The NATO principle, in leather
One strap, passing under the case and looping back to the buckle. You open no spring bars, you reach for no tools. And the watch is held at two points instead of one — that is what makes this type of strap safe. Stainless buckle and keepers.
The movement, on video
You will see nylon on screen: the demonstration is about the method, not the product. Remove the original bracelet, thread the strap under the case, done. The NATOSCAN fits the same way, material aside.
One clarification: this strap does not go in the water
Better said plainly. Leather is not nylon: no sea, no pool, no washing machine. If you want a strap for diving or a summer by the water, take a nylon NATO strap — that is what it is for. The NATOSCAN is for the rest of the year.
