Beco Technics — a tool to drive out the spring bars of watch straps. A fork tip on one side to reach and release the bars, a pin tip on the other to push bars through drilled lugs or strap buckles. Not suitable for removing metal bracelets: use the fine-fork Bergeon 6767F tool for those.
This Beco tool drives out the spring bars of watch straps. A fork tip on one side, to reach the bar at the base of the lug and release it. A pin tip on the other, to push bars through drilled lugs and strap buckles.
The fork works from the outside, between the lug and the strap end. The pin works through the hole, when the lugs are drilled — which is the case on many divers and military pieces.
It is not suitable for removing metal bracelets. For those, the fine-fork Bergeon 6767F tool is the one to use.
The video below shows the movement, tool in hand. Our video guide to removing a watch strap covers the whole operation if you are starting out.
A spring that has lost its travel cannot be recovered. Reinforced stainless steel springbars run from 18 to 26 mm, in sets of four or packs of twenty. The full section is in watchmaker tool kits.
Arezzo 20mm leather, made in Tuscany, is available online exclusively here. Hirsch 20mm leather, made in Austria, offers other constructions and the Quick-Release system. On a watch with fixed bars, a NATO 20mm strap is needed.
