Oiled cloth, and what it is worth
Barbour oiled cloth is waxed cotton. It is water-repellent: a shower on the bag does not go through. It is also softer than new leather, so the pouch rolls tight from the first use, with no breaking-in period.
Beige is the lightest of the three shades. It marks a little, and that is the point: oiled cloth patinates in zones, like a jacket in service.
The top flap
The five slots are covered by a flap before rolling. That is what keeps a watch from working out of its pocket in transit, and what prevents direct contact between two cases.
The closure is a leather tie. Supplied in a gift box.
