Beige on its own fades away, especially on a narrow strap. A single red pinstripe is enough to structure it. At 18mm this dose is the only one that works: any more colour and the strap becomes a ribbon.

Fitting on a dive watch

Nothing is glued, nothing is stitched end to end: the nylon forms a continuous band, per the G10 specification. It slips under the case and settles on both spring bars. The hardware — tongue, keepers — is marine stainless steel that salt does not attack. Machine clean, 30°.

Why the NATO strap has lasted sixty years

Born of a military specification, it should have stayed in the barracks. It left because it solves a problem nobody else had solved: secure the watch, change without tools, survive water, and cost less than a steel bracelet. None of those points has aged.
