Why elastic?

Because that is what protects the watch. A shock on a rigid strap passes to the spring bars, which fail. The Marine Nationale is fully elastic: it takes the hit, stretches, and returns to place. The watch never leaves the wrist.

How to wear it

Tighter than a regular strap. That is intended: the tension does all the work, diving or daily. The elasticity lets it be worn over a diving wetsuit, which no rigid strap allows. It settles onto the wrist after a few uses.

A few 20mm watches: IWC Mark XVIII, Doxa Sub 300, Marathon GSAR, Marathon TSAR, Oris Divers Sixty-Five 40. Measure the gap between your lugs, not the case diameter.

Marine Nationale or classic NATO?
