Five millimetres, and still supple
Thickness alone does not make a good strap — a thick, rigid strap is uncomfortable. The Riccardo starts at 5 mm at the lugs and comes down to 3.5 mm at the buckle: the volume sits where it is seen, the suppleness where the wrist bends. Calf leather lining, never synthetic.
Padding makes most sense at 22 mm
On a 42 to 44 mm case, a flat 3 mm leather always looks undersized. The Riccardo closes that gap: the watch recovers its proportions instead of floating above the strap. It is shown on an Omega Speedmaster, by way of illustration.
Ecru stitching on matt calf
The calf is left matt, with no glossy finish, and the ecru stitching outlines it. The contrast is clear without being loud. Tuscan vegetable tanning, drum-dyed, clean side cut.
