Red in suede stays wearable

Red in a smooth leather is hard to wear: it shines and it shouts. In suede the material absorbs light and the colour turns matt, muted, close to a wool red. That is what allows it to sit with a steel watch without the whole tipping into accessory territory.

When to choose it

Red works on black or white dials, where it stays the only accent. On an already coloured dial it competes. It is a second or third strap, rarely a first — and that is precisely where its interest lies.
