Our workshop images show the brown 20 mm waterproof watch strap on an Omega Speedmaster. It is the most useful pairing in the family: a warm leather on a steel case, but with the resistance of rubber. The watch keeps its dressed-chronograph look and becomes wearable outdoors.
Brown is the colour that patinas best
The calf is tanned in Italy and left semi-matt. On brown, the leather will take on a light patina over time. After a season the strap says something a new one cannot.
A rubber lining stitched all round
The lining is black natural rubber, cannot rot, and is stitched all round the strap on top of the bonding. The stitch runs the full perimeter of the strap. It is what absorbs water and perspiration. The surface leather stays dry, does not swell and does not harden — which is what explains the working life of this model.
