The Tropic type emerged in the 1960s to equip instrumental diving watches. Seawater-resistant, quickly adjustable and wearable over a wetsuit, it soon won over manufacturers, who sometimes fitted it as standard alongside steel.
The Tropic now ranks among vintage strap essentials, beside the NATO and perlon. It featured on sought-after timepieces: LIP Nautic-Ski, Yema Yachtingraf or Aquastar Regate. Basket weave, notched edge and embossed back mark our version's authenticity.
No ordinary rubber here: FKM is a premium elastomer built to last. Stable against UV and chemicals, hypoallergenic and clean to wear, it does not hold dust and stays pleasant year-round.
On a diver worn all year, the material decides how long the strap lasts. An entry-level silicone dulls and stretches; FKM keeps its suppleness and its original look. It is the elastomer used for watch gaskets.
