Watch strap in 20mm grey premium FKM rubber, microperforated Tropic type. Waterproof and hypoallergenic, this diving strap reproduces the basket-weave pattern of the original Tropic. Elegant and versatile, grey tempers the most technical dials. Quick-release spring bars, satin stainless steel buckle.
For vintage fans, the Tropic is a reference, driven by the retro revival. It equipped sought-after watches: Lemania Regatta Yachting, Tissot Seastar or Yema Yachtingraf. Our version keeps its codes — basket weave, notched border, embossed back true to the 1960s.
Elegant and versatile, grey tempers the most technical dials.
Born from sixties divers' needs, the Tropic type answered the steel bracelet of early marine watches. Supple, salt-proof and easy to adjust, it accompanied the greatest divers and regatta chronographs of the decade.
FKM fluoroelastomer stands out for its longevity: no cracking, no fading, no odour. Gentle on sensitive skin, silicone-free, it combines the comfort of soft rubber with the toughness of a technical material.
Silicone is cheap and quick to mould, which is why it turns up on entry-level straps. It copes poorly with prolonged seawater and sun creams. FKM fluoroelastomer, reserved for technical use, takes both without whitening.
Our own footage: the FKM rubber strap filmed flat, underwater, then put to the test kitesurfing.
In the same marine spirit, this 20mm pairs with the premium Hirsch Pure rubber strap, also available in 20mm. For a sportier stitched finish, see the stitched Arezzo Racing rubber strap.
