Oiling gives buffalo its bubble surface
After vegetable tanning, the hide is oiled on the surface. The oil penetrates unevenly according to fibre density, raising a bubbled relief that nothing reproduces identically. No two Buffalo straps carry the same pattern: that is the process, not a flaw.
An unoiled lining
The lining leather is the same buffalo, but left unoiled. It stays matt and dry against the skin, hypoallergenic, and transfers none of the surface oil. It is a construction detail you do not find on inexpensive oiled leathers.
