Edges patinated by hand, one at a time
The section of the Brutus is neither lacquered nor machine-dyed: it is patinated by hand, along both edges, until it reaches the dark shade that frames the strap. It is long work, visible up close, and it is what gives the strap the look of a workshop piece rather than a production one.

Our workshop shots show it on a Rolex 5513. On an older diver, the raw black leather and red stitching set the tone without excess: two points of colour at the ends, and nothing more.
Raw leather on both faces
The same raw leather on the surface and in the lining, with no smoothing finish. It hardens less than a treated leather and takes a patina with wear. Thickness of 4 mm at the watch end, tapering to 2.5 mm at the buckle, which is where the suppleness comes from.
