The 20mm black waterproof strap is not a treated leather
The difference lies in the construction, not in a surface coating. The Explorer is built in layers, with a black natural rubber lining that cannot rot: the lining takes the moisture, not the leather. The lining is stitched all round as well as bonded, so it does not part from the leather over repeated soakings. A merely waxed leather eventually swells and then stiffens; this one does not move.
For a life spent outdoors
Hiking, sailing, site work, anything outdoors: these are the uses that finish off an ordinary leather strap in a season. The Explorer is the one leather in the collection you can wear without thinking about it.
